6 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon pale dry sherry, 1 clove garlic, minced, 1 tablespoon sugar, pinch coarse ground black pepper

Step 1 Mix all ingredients together and pour over thick cut top round or other cut of beef. Stab with fork on both sides. Let sit all night or at least 4 hours, turning it every now or then.
Step 2 Grill beef over charcoal.
